Payment of interest is sufficient; you need not file a letter to Mumbai. The system automatically updates itself about the interest payment and the demand drops automatically

Once you pay the interest demand online or through the prescribed mode, the Income Tax Department's system usually updates the payment within **7 to 15 working days**. After this, the demand should automatically be marked as paid and drop off from your record.
You **do not need to send a separate letter** to the Mumbai IT office after payment unless the demand notice specifically asks you to respond or provide proof of payment.
If the mail or notice explicitly requests confirmation or documents, then you should respond accordingly. Otherwise, just keep the payment receipt safely as proof.
If after 15 days the demand still shows up, you can then write to the IT department with your payment details for clarification.
Would you like help with the payment procedure or tracking this demand online?
