Whether TDS deducted on Salary / Rent can be deposited by means of Cheque..in absence of Internet banking...

20 December 2013 yes you can deposit TDS vide cheque.

20 December 2013 the cheque will be issued in the name of the bank in which u r depositing the tds

20 December 2013 It is mandatory for the following types of assesses to pay tax online with effect from April 1,2008.

a) All the corporate assesses.
b) All assesses (other than company) to whom provisions of section 44AB of the Income Tax Act, 1961 are applicable.

20 December 2013 provided you are not covered by the categories referred to by Ganesh ji, you can deposite TDS vide cheque by issuing cheque in favor of "ICICI A/C INCOME TAX" you need to change the name of the bank depending on which bank you are depositing the cheque in. For eg if it is PNB, then cheque shall be in favor of "PNB A/c Income Tax"
