Stamp duty paid is eligible for 80c

Sir,
My client is purchase house in f.y. 2012-13 in cash (not Finance in Bank) and paid stamp duty around rs. 80000/- can i claim deduction under section 80C

24 August 2013 Yes,,you can claim..
conditions:-

1)amount should be paid in previous year[80(C)(1)]

2)Stamp duty paid is for the purpose of transfer of house property to the assesse[80(C)(2)(xviii)(d)]

means

(i)house should be transfered in the name of assesse

(ii)Assesse must pay stamp duty
(iii)both (i) and (ii) above should occured in the year in which deduction under [80(C)(2)(xviii)(d)] claimed
