16 June 2009 SOX is an acronym for Sarbanes Oxley Act..

After the debacle of Enron in US, this Law was enacted for curbing the corporate governance issues and is aimed at strict monitoring and responsibilities of Key management personnels of the company. you can see the Act and details here:

All the companies listed in US are required to follow this law and accordingly in India also there are Audits conducted for Compliance of SOX provisions.
This audit is called SOX Audit..
