14 October 2008 If the income is> 1000000 surcharge @10% is also payable.
This rate is for the asst year 2009-10.
For ladies and those above 65 years rates are different.

14 October 2008 Sorry there is a mistake in uploading the answer.
The answer begins as follows.
upto 150000 nil
150000 to 300000 10%
300000 to 500000 20%
500000 and above 30%
In addition to the above cess @2% and secondary and higher education cess @1% is also to be payable on the tax calculated as above.
