I have a doubt that is Service tax is applied on rent or not , if so what are the sections applicable on it , kindly explain me...

Yes, Service Tax is applicabnle if property rented for commercial purpose.

05 November 2012 Service tax on commercial purposes renting of immovable property is applicable as per the new NEGATIVE list of service tax .. (Eg. Even if a residence premises is let out for Commercial purpose.. service tax shall be applicable and payable)
