17 March 2011 When service tax is not availed and is eligible for the same what is the limit period to avail the same and is there any restrictions on the amt.

17 March 2011 Pooja's question is not clear. Is it cenvat credit of service tax ? There is no time limit for taking cenvat credit on service tax. There is no restriction on amount as well. But conditions under CCR apply.

It is service tax credit against service tax payable.

To my Knowledge the service tax credit bills should be of within one year and there is a notification for same.

But I am not able to find it.

I am not sure if there is any limit for the amt. for same.

18 March 2011 Cenvat credit involves two things. One taking the credit and two utilisation of the credit for payment of service tax. For both this , there is no time limit. But remember, it shall qualify as input service and the restrictions as per Rule 6 of the CCR shall apply.
