Service provided to Government Department

We are Electrical contractor and providing electrical services like cabling, solar installation, etc... to electricity supply co. like BESCOM, HESCOM. Our question is do we need to charge service tax? If yes then what is the percentage and under which category?

Yes you need to charge service tax. It will fall under works contract. Determine the value based on Rule 2A of service tax (Determination of value) Rules 2006.
