28 February 2014 One of my client is differently disabled person and take standard deduction u/s 80U every year. He spend around Rs.124000/- on his medical treatment, Can he take deduction u/s 80DD as well with deduction U/s 80U in such financial year?

28 February 2014 80DD:-

Assessee has a disable dependent Relative.
Ded.n : 50k (for sever disability it is 1L)
Normal Disability 40% or more
Severe Disab. 80% or more.

Relative- spouse, bro & sis, parents & childrens

80U:-

Assessee himself suffering frm disability
Dedn: 50k or 1L(sever disability).

In ur case only 80U is applicable.
