Salary income tax

If arrears of 28 months(2012,2013 and 4 months of 2014)given by Employer to their staff in Aug.2014. Few of employees have cross slab of income tax. Now employer has to deduct income tax of concern employees from their salary. Is there any relaxation to reduce the tax liability.

While deducting the tax at source 89(1) relief may be given to employees. Spread the income to the respective years and calculate the tax, due to this spreading the benefit of reduction tax liability be given to employees as per section 89(1).
