Revision of return filed u/s 139(1)

04 May 2011 Sir,

I had filed a reurn of income within the time limit allowed u/s 139(1). After sometime I realised that there was a mistake so I filed a revised return of income but after seven days of my filing of revised return I received by e-mail an order u/s 143(1) dated before my filing of the revised return. Kindly guide me how to proceed?
Please let me know if my revised return is valid or not?

07 May 2011 In this case, you revised return is not valid. Now you need to file an online Rectification Application u/s 154. Because a return has to be revised before the Intimation u/s 143(1). So to rectify your mistakes you file the online rectification application.

07 May 2011 Sir should I quote the figures asked for in rectification upload form of the original return or the revised return. My problem is that as per the revised return there is a refund due but as per the original return and assessment u/s 143(1) there is no refund due.
Sir please guide me correctly as I have already filed a revised return before receiving the assessment u/s 143(1) but the date on which I received the order u/s 143(1) showed date of order 35 days before the date of mail sent by the Income Tax department.
Sir please help me out

07 May 2011 Forget now about the original return and revised return. Revised return is not valid now.
For rectification upload, file the figures like you are filing the return for the first time. Dont make any errors. Now, with actual figures you will get a refund. Upload the rectification xml file. You will get the submission of the rectification. After the rectification is successfully processed, you will get a refund.
