Reimbursement of rent of employee

20 June 2014 Hi,

I am working as Accountant in a partnership Firm. We are paying to some of our employees rent as reimbursement. Kindly let me know whether this payment is taxable under law at any circumstances( Perquisites or Rent )

20 June 2014 if your pay as part of salary then employee give you rent agreement and rent receipt of owner of property then you can give them HRA exemption as per income tax act.
if you are gives amount other then salary then it include in employee salary as allowance and include in their salary and deduct the TDS accordingly.
