Since your mother filed the return manually for AY 2011-12 and the refund status shows that the Assessing Officer (AO) has not yet sent the refund to the Refund Banker, here’s what you can do:
Follow up with the Assessing Officer (AO): Visit or contact the jurisdictional AO office and inquire about the delay in processing the refund. Sometimes manual returns take longer for processing. Check if the return is processed: Confirm whether the return has been processed and the refund demand has been determined by the AO. File a formal request: If needed, file a refund status inquiry or application with the AO, attaching a copy of the return acknowledgment and bank details. Keep track of the demand notice: Sometimes refunds are delayed due to pending scrutiny or adjustments. Confirm there is no outstanding demand against the PAN. If no response or delay continues: You can approach the Income Tax Grievance Cell or file a complaint on the Income Tax Department’s e-filing portal. Manual returns often take time, so it’s good to keep following up directly with the AO.
