Quick Summary

If you contribute over £2.5 Lakhs to your PF, the interest earned above this threshold is taxable. You must declare this taxable interest on an accrual basis in your Income Tax Return (ITR) for the relevant Financial Year. 15 July 2026 Hello Sir /Maam

EPFO credited interest.I put VPF above 2.5L as I find VPF a safe option inspite of tax component.

But credited interest it's not reflecting in 26AS/AIS

How to file tax and for which year to file tax
The Passbook neither mentions date of credit not the taxable interest .Just I see enhanced amount .When entries are not there in 26AS/AIS how to file?

16 July 2026 Taxable PF interest on contributions above ₹2.5 Lakhs must be declared on an accrual basis in the respective Financial Year's ITR. Even if the entry is completely missing from your 26AS/AIS, you must calculate the taxable interest portion from your EPFO passbook and manually report it under Income from Other Sources to maintain accurate compliance.

16 July 2026 Thanks for response sir.Eventually when they credit will they update FY 26AS or AY 26AS(next FY).I am concerned if they credit in AY the next yr again I will have to pay tax resulting in double tax .Also if I file today 16th July and they credit on 29th July will I have to again revised the tax return of figures are diff between my calc and their cacl
