I have an very old PAN Card. I would like to start filing of Income Tax Return now. Can I use the same card, or should I apply for the new card.

You have to use the same Number. There is no need and also should not apply for allotment of PAN No afresh.
However, if the Card has been spoiled, you may apply for replacing the card with a new one. Change is in Card but not Number
