10 October 2013 now a days deptt is issuing some notices to non filers of itr how to deal with them. will depp impose penalty for non filling of itrs in case where assessee had taxable income but did not filed itrs timely. will deptt issue notices us 142 or 147 for assessment and will penalty be imposed of concealment.

10 October 2013 If there is a unpaid tax liability, penalties will follow. whether they use 142 or 147, is their discretion. As of now, they have just sent notice for non-filing. Next steps have not yet actualized.

12 October 2013 You are correctly thinking. First non filers will be allowed to file return then notices for penalty and concealment. Those who have already paid taxes then they are saving interest but what about penalty how they can get rid of it is a big question.
