This query is : Resolved

06 November 2016 Hello everyone,

I need your guidance to register for new zealand ca. I recently qualified in May16 attempt. In the process of searching about new zealand CA, I came to know about Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between ICAI and new zealand CA. But I couldn't able to find the answers for the below:

1. Is there any further qualification required other than CA to register for New zealand CA program ?

2. I also have degree ( in commerce background) from one of the recognized universities in India ie; IGNOU university. Is it sufficient to register if other qualification if any required other than CA?

3. How many papers I need to clear in order to get through the exam

4. Procedure for registration for the course including fee details.

5. Most importantly - Any work experience is required to register for the course? . ( I have completed mandatory internship of 3 years in a medium sized audit firm and also working in Big4 audit firm from past 10 months. Is this sufficient if any experience required?)

6. If I am eligible, is there any exam centre available in India to appear for fhe exams.

Kindly support .

08 November 2016 Thanks Amol.
Can you give me clarity on experience requirement. As per Mou between ICAI and CAANZ,( which I read it in ICAI website) 2 years post qualification experience is not required for the members who qualified after 2006. I received mail from CAANZ institute service center stating that 2 years experience is required. Is it stated any where in new MOU entered if any?
Thanks in advance!

04 August 2024 Navigating the path to register for the New Zealand Chartered Accountancy program can seem complex, but here are insights based on your queries:

1. **Further Qualification Required:**
- If you are a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) from ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India), you generally meet the academic requirements for registration with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ). You would need to provide evidence of your CA qualification and potentially meet English language proficiency requirements if applicable.

2. **Additional Qualifications:**
- Your degree from IGNOU in commerce should support your application. CA ANZ typically requires completion of a recognized tertiary qualification in accounting or commerce, which you seem to fulfill.

3. **Number of Papers:**
- Typically, qualified CAs from ICAI are eligible for exemptions from all foundation-level papers and some of the professional-level papers. The exact number of papers you need to clear would depend on your specific academic background and the assessment of CA ANZ.

4. **Registration Procedure and Fees:**
- To register, you would need to apply directly to Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ). This involves completing an application form, providing supporting documents (transcripts, proof of CA qualification), and paying applicable registration fees. The fee details can be found on the CA ANZ website or by contacting their member services.

5. **Work Experience Requirement:**
- As per the MOU between ICAI and CA ANZ, members who qualified after 2006 may not need to fulfill the usual two years of practical experience requirement. Your internship and current work experience in audit firms should be sufficient. However, itโ€™s advisable to clarify directly with CA ANZ regarding any specific experience requirements they may have.

6. **Exam Centers:**
- CA ANZ conducts exams globally, including in India. You can select an exam center convenient for you during the exam registration process.

7. **Clarifying Experience Requirement:**
- Since you received conflicting information regarding the experience requirement (2 years vs. potentially waived under the MOU), it would be best to directly communicate with CA ANZ for clarity. Contact their member services or institute service center to discuss your specific situation and refer to the MOU between ICAI and CA ANZ for any exemptions or special provisions.

To proceed effectively, gather your documents, check the CA ANZ website for registration details, and contact them directly with your queries regarding experience requirements and any other specific concerns. They will provide you with accurate guidance tailored to your circumstances.
