New feature form 26AS

24 June 2010 recently IT dept has given free access to Form 26AS thru efile login to the Assessees. i need a clarification on it

i checked it for a assessee total Tax deducted was one amount and TDS deposited was another (TDS deposited was incl of Interest on delayed payment of TDS) so TDS deducted is to be considered but the total column is on TDS deposited as such it includes felay in interest and TDS credit.

Is it wrong in filing of TDS return?

24 June 2010 There is nothing wrong , In case of late deposit, interst is paid for such delay.
TDS deposited amount including interest show that interst is paid for such delay.

but form16/16A was issued only for TDS deducted (That is correct amount) but when the deductee check his 26AS it will show TDS deducted which wil match with form 16/16A but TDS deposited will also be shown in 26AS which will include interest portion.

is this fine?

the Deductee can claim only TDS deducted right?

24 June 2010 Yes Deductee can claim only TDS amount, not interest amount.
