15 February 2010 Can any one tell me how to sort by date in ms excell
when i am trying to sort in date format ex:dd/mm/yy then date wise only changed but month not changed in order

will you tell me procedure

15 February 2010 Try this step >

1. Select the data in column for sorting.
2. Go to Data>Sort and select the column for starting.

It will sort the date format also.

I don't understand about month wise..even the month also includes some date only.
Like if u right March 09, it will take 31.3.09
or if u right Feb,09 then it wil take it as 28.2.09.
and if u sort it in ascending order, then the date of 28.2.09 will preeeced 31.3.09.

I hope it solves ur problem.

be sure that the format of all the dates are same..
dd/mm/yy or mm/dd/yy.
i.e 4/1/2009 shud be 4th Jan
1/5/2009 shud be 1st May
3/2/2009 shuid be 3rd feb.

or if other format is using, then
4/1/2009 shud be 1st April
1/5/2009 shud be 5th Jan
3/2/2009 shud be 2nd March..

BE ENSURE ALL ARE RESPRESENTING SAME FORMAT. IF DIFFERENT FORMAT FOR DIFF DATES..IT WILL NOT WORK.
