Mentioned wrong assessment year in the itr-1

04 February 2018 As this was the first time I was filing return, I had filed ITR-1 for Assessment year 2016-17 thinking that it is the financial year, whereas I had to actually file it for the Assessment year 2017-18...I received notice under section 143(1), by not availing the TDS, now I want to remove all the data for AY 2016-17 and want to file the same return for AY 2017-18. Can u please assist me in this situation which could be the better way to approach this problem?

04 February 2018 You can't do that. File belated return for AY 2017-18. File revised return for AY 2016-17 with revise figure relevant to that year.

04 February 2018 Thank you...Even I thought of filing belated return for AY 2017-18..But my income is less than basic exemption limit for AY 2016-17...

04 February 2018 In such a case also revide the return with such less than basic exemption figure.
