medical reimbursement

This query is : Resolved

23 May 2011 i have incurred 50000 as medical expenses of my dependent. i submitted the medical claim to my employer. i got 40000 as medical reimbursement. balance 10000 borne by me. can i claim the same (10000) as medical expenses under medical expenses of rs 15000/-

24 May 2011 15000 is the medical insurance, not medical expenses

this 10000 would go added in your drawings.

24 May 2011 10,000+ out of 40,000-1250PM will also be taxable in your hand.

24 May 2011 In case expenses incurred for the treatment in a recognised or approved hospital, which are generally Govt. Hospitals,
and if the amount reimbursed is against the said expenses, Rs. 40000/ will be exempt.

In the present case, where it seems to be a reimbursement against medical bills, amount taxable in your hand would be Rs 25000/-.
i.e. 40000- allowable amount 15000/-.
