This query is : Resolved

26 July 2008 Sir, can activity like calibration and testing amount to manufacture and come under excise duty?

27 July 2008 If you are a manufacturer its your manufacturing cost you are charging through sales invoice rate. in sale you are paying excise duty.

if you are a dealer you are charging to party then you should pay service tax.

if you are manufacturer you are issuing sepret cash memo you should pay servie tax.

if you are encluding in sales invoice then you shoul pay duty & cess & vat/cst etc.service tax exempt to exicesable goods manufacturer because he is not providing service he is manufacturing goods.
