24 March 2012 Hi All,

I have shares bought in before 1996 and some before 2000.

Most of them are in demat now and i dont have any records like at wht price i have bought and when(correct date).now i cant get any contract notes duplicate as the broker kept IP and closed the firm long back

Now i am thinking to file return and i have sold few in this year in stock market.

1. As STT was not there in 2000 is LTCG i exempt for me ?
2.How should i arrive the price of stocks for it purpose?
