KVP MATURITY ON 05.05.2019 FOR F.Y. 2019-20

This query is : Resolved

Quick Summary
A KVP investor received Rs. 520,000 on a maturity value of Rs. 260,000. They are seeking clarification on whether the entire Rs. 260,000 interest earned is fully taxable and if the principal amount can be shown as tax-exempt income. The advice provided suggests that the interest is generally fully taxable in the year of receipt, unless it was previously accounted for on a due basis.

09 July 2020 I had invested Rs.260000/- and received Rs.520000/- as maturity. Is interest received 260000/- fully taxable? Can I show principal amount 260000/- as tax exempted income? Kindly help.
