30 September 2011 Due to clerical mistake pan mentioned in individual income tax return wrong now income tax department issued a letter and intimate to me penalty u/s 272 Rs. 10000/- and produce corrected copy of pan card with three day of receipt of letter.
Hence now you are requested kindly provide reply draft letter for saying gaminess of the facts to the income tax officer along with a appropriate case law if possible.
also say whether is penalty applicable or not

30 September 2011 Quoting wrong PAN invites initiation of penalty under section 272B of the Income tax Act,1961. Pl file a reply stating that it was due to an inadvertent typographical error and pray that the mistake may be excused. You may enclose a copy of the PAN card also along with the said letter. Also seek an opportunity of being heard on this matter.
