26 June 2009 Can one person form a Greater HUF even today alongwith his brothers and sisters
and
again the same person wants to form another Smaller HUF with his Wife and Children after marriage
(i.e. he wants to be Karta of both the HUFs)
Is this possible?
If yes,
How is the PAN card obtained?

26 June 2009 Yes, there can be 2 HUF in one family. One bigger HUF and another smaller HUF. A single person can be Karta of both the families. lets take an example. There can be 2 HUF of the person Shri Ganesh Shyamsundar Bhandari. The bigger HUF will be known as " SHYAMSUNDAR BHANDARI HUF" Whereas the smaller HUF will be known as " GANESH BHANDAR HUF ". He can be karta of both the HUF's. So far as the PAN card is concerned, enclose the identity proof & address proof of Shri Shyamsundar Bhandari in case of bigger HUF. You can avail the PAN card & you can sign as karta of HUF on application form.
