Please provide HRA exemption calculation for GOVT employees

30 July 2022 For all the employees getting HRA the exemption for HRA benefit is the minimum of:

1. The total amount of HRA received
2. 50 percent of salary (Basic salary + Dearness Allowance) if living in metro cities or 40 percent for non-metro cities
3. Excess of rent paid annually over 10% of annual salary (Basic salary + DA)
