Hi,
In case where a husband and wife are residing in a rented house and the husband is the only earning member can he claim an HRA exemption if the rent agreement is in his wife's name? Please reply..

Try with a notarized affidavit ,executed in a stamp paper of appropriate value as prescribed by the state to which you belong,in support of the rent payment/ agreement.

yes through affidavit the assessee can claim the rent paid by him for his HRA though rent agreement is in Wife's name.
