23 January 2011 1. For Traders/clearing agents who receive their goods by road with consignment notes marked "Service Tax is payable by the consignee" - whether liable to pay service tax?

2. In case a employee on transfer, pays freight for transportation of household goods. whether liable to pay service tax on the amount of freight paid by him?

24 January 2011 1. Consigee will pay the service tax .

2. Employee will not pay the tax since he is not a notified person. In this case transport agency has to pay the tax.
