Gst on advance collections from rwa members

02 December 2017 Dear Sir,
In case of Residents welfare associations ( RWA ) :

when we collect it as an advance contribution for use in various projects in future, with other suppliers of goods and services, GST should become applicable then ?

Also, in case we do not go ahead with the project, we may have to refund the money collected, with interest accrued, to the respective contributors ?

Please suggest to me, how to save gst as above mentioned ?

02 December 2017 In such a case GST not applicable on advance collected till project is identified and allotment letter issued/agreement signed.

Is the gst applicable on culture income like diwali mela contibution or any festival functions in case of rwa ?

06 November 2018 It's a donation/contribution will not fall under supply hence GST not applicable.

Definition of ‘supply’ Under section 2(92) read with section 3 ‘supply’ includes all forms of supply of goods and/or services such as sale, transfer, barter, exchange, licence, rental, lease or disposal made or agreed to be made for a consideration by a person in the course or furtherance of business. Schedule I specified the supply.
