Goods carrier - gst registration ?

24 May 2018 Hello All,
A person is running three goods carrier like TATA ACE, MAHINDRA BOLERO TRUCK AND MAXXIMMO PLUS..
1. Does he (an individual) fall under the category of GTA ?
2. Is it necessary for him to raise a frieght invoice?
3. Is it necessary for him to obtain GST registration even if turnover is less than 20 lakhs ?
4. If so at what rate the GST should be charged?

24 May 2018 One of the condition to classify a transporter to be a GTA is that a Goods receipt not is issued. If your client is providing service of the transporting goods as per the instruction of hirer of the truck/vehicle without issuing any goods receipt note or lorry receipt or any similar document, the service shall not fall under GTA service. The service of transportation of goods by road is exempted under GST.
In case of GTA service provided by your client only to persons liable to pay GST on GTA service RCM then also your client is not liable to charge GST.
No registration under GST is required
