29 January 2011 my uncle was not file his income tax return for AY 2009-10(PY 2008-09)but he had no taxes due.so how he would be penelised and is there any last date to file his belated return.please clarify me.

29 January 2011 Return is not required to be filed if the gross total income before claiming deduction under chapter VIA is less than Rs.1,60,000 / Rs.2,40,000 in case of Senior citizens.
Penalty is Rs.5,000 (discretionary)
Last date for filing belated return is 31.03.2011
