filing of AIR Return

I am a registrar

I recieved a notice from IT/NSDL quarying for not filing of AIR Return for the last Year.

Last Year there was no transaction/Registration that qualified for AIR Return in my office .

How can I file a NIL AIR/ or is it compulsery to file an AIR even iff the transaxction is NIL- Please Reply

20 October 2010 The law as well as the concerned rules does not prescribe mandatory filing of NIL return. However, as per my understanding, you may write a letter to the authority stating that non filing of AIR is not delebrate but was due to no "specified financial transctions" to be reported upon.
