02 August 2011 Can a NRI invest in a private ltd company by ordinary banking mode

10 August 2011 Yes, NRI can invest in private ltd. Company by transfer from NRO/NRE or direct transfer from outside India.The investment in India can on repatriation or non repatriation basis. If the funds are received on repatriation basis then the same are covered under FDI scheme which provides for intimation to RBI with in 30 days of receipt of funds. Also the share capital is to allotted or returned with in 180 days of receipt of money.
