This query is : Resolved

07 November 2009 Hi,

I am a salaried guy using own car for official purpose. Does the salary paid to Driver is eligible to claim as a deduction. If yes pl let me know the limit ?

Padmakar

07 November 2009 Salary paid to your car driver by your employer is a perquisite and is treated as such.If the car belonged to your employer and driver is also provided with the car for official use then it is not treated as a perquisite.

07 November 2009 Thanks. I mean If I am paying Salary to Driver can I claim exemption at the time of filing the returns ?

Padmakar

28 December 2009 No it is only personal expenses. No Deduction allowed as long as your having main source of income is Salay. If you have business income resonable portion of driver salary can be claimed as busniness expenses.
