my one client having proprietory business & having trading turnover morethan rs. 10 crore beside this he also sale some imported goods after repacking in small pack turnover approx. 50 lac.
now my query he is liable for registration in exise or not please claryify

Packing per se is not amounting to manufacture in most cases except in cases of specified chapters/ headins. product detaisl important.
However should not be liable as there is also a 150 lakhs exemption for manufactured goods [ assuming the packing amounts tomanufacture ]

He is not liable for registration under Central Excise Act,1944.
