This query is : Resolved

05 January 2017 Suppose Mr A supplies raw cloth to Mr B for STITCHING ( conversion into final garments) and after STITCHING Mr. B returns the ready garment to Mr. A and get his Job work chargs. Now my question is whether Mr. B Is liable for exice duty or not. Also consider the fact that the supplier Mr. A has not paid excise duty on such goods. Kindly refer your answer. Thank you.

05 January 2017 B is not liable for excise duty only A is only liable for excise duty if he sells it under brand name and retail selling price of Rs. 1000 or above.
