23 March 2016 one of the company have been selling to private labels (e.g wills lifestyle etc.) with their brand labels on the goods, They have been paying excise duty while they import goods with the branding and labelling done outside India. We realized from the new budget the excise duty on such goods has been proposed to be increased. Want to know if they buy the goods from the domestic market and use the private brand labels, willthe excise duty still be applicable? Also want to know the incidence of Excise duty if goods are manugactured outside India but branding/labelling is done in India. TIA

27 March 2016 Now the excise duty on readymade garment will be applicable if two condition have been fulfiled. one is SRP should be 1000/- or more and second is brand name. Any one condition has not been fulfiled then no need to pay excise duty. For details visit my article:
