entertainment tax is generally levied for admission to public entertainments.
why it is levied - to mobilize more taxes for govt same as any other tax.
it is levied on the gross receipts such as ticket price for the movie ticket:
remember that entertainment tax is a state subject and therefore each state has its own entertainment tax/duty act.
