What is Entertainment tax?
why it's levied
on which Income it is to be levied

24 November 2013 entertainment tax is generally levied for admission to public entertainments.

why it is levied - to mobilize more taxes for govt same as any other tax.

it is levied on the gross receipts such as ticket price for the movie ticket:

remember that entertainment tax is a state subject and therefore each state has its own entertainment tax/duty act.
