E filing return

The Excel sheet downloaded ITR-1,ITR-2 is not generated in xml.
i.e in those sheets the TABs on right hand side of Validate,Generate,XML etc keys are showing in active.
Dont know wht is the problem.Could anyone help me out or send me proper utilities to upload the form.

If you have downloaded the file from the income tax website it prepares the XML file which is to be uploaded for efiling.
If the Validate, generate XML files are showing in active then use it to prepare the XML file.
If the Validate, generate XML files are showing in active then use it to prepare the XML file.
