Delay in return processing

05 December 2012 Dear Sir,
In most of cases, where I had filed return for the AY 2012-13 before due date and period of 6 months is about to pass. However Cpc did not process the returns nor issued any refund yet. Whenever I ask on helpline the told me that return is in process.
Why is cpc taking so much time to issue the refunds.
Please advise me.

05 December 2012 Although certain people have got their refunds for the same AY. But they are reported to be having salary income.
However the reasons for delay in issue of refunds can be that the government is short of funds. This is my opinion . Because you can relate this instance with the appeal of Prime minister on national television 1-2 months ago. Where he explained his reasons for introducing FDI in retail, reducing the subsidy etc.
There he explained that the government is in urgent need of funds.
And therefore you can think that when the government has got so much funds in the form of tax on which interest payble on refund is only 6% p.a. , there arises no reasons to pay the refunds on time.

There may be other reasons also. But I think that its the prime reason.
