20 July 2024 As of my last update, Central Sales Tax (CST) provisions are no longer applicable in India. CST was a tax levied by the Central Government on inter-state sales of goods before the introduction of Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Here's a brief overview of the historical context and the current situation:

### Historical Context:

1. **Central Sales Tax (CST)**:
- CST was levied by the Central Government under the Central Sales Tax Act, 1956.
- It applied to the sale of goods between different states within India.
- CST rates varied based on the nature of goods and whether the transaction was against a "C" Form (for concessional rates) or without it (at higher rates).

### Current Situation (Post-GST Implementation):

1. **Goods and Services Tax (GST)**:
- GST was implemented in India from July 1, 2017, consolidating multiple indirect taxes including CST, VAT, Service Tax, etc.
- Under GST, inter-state transactions of goods are subject to Integrated GST (IGST) which is levied and collected by the Central Government.
- IGST is applicable on all inter-state supplies of goods and services, replacing CST.
- IGST is administered under the Integrated Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017.

2. **Impact on Businesses**:
- With the introduction of GST, businesses no longer need to deal with CST compliance, including issues related to "C" Forms.
- GST has streamlined tax administration and compliance, aiming to create a unified national market for goods and services.

### Key Points to Note:

- **Transition**: Businesses have transitioned from CST to GST seamlessly, eliminating the complexities associated with multiple indirect taxes.
- **Compliance**: GST compliance involves registration, filing of returns, payment of taxes, and claiming of input tax credit, which are governed by GST laws and rules.

If you have specific queries related to historical CST transactions or implications under GST, it's advisable to consult with a tax advisor or GST expert who can provide guidance based on the latest provisions and notifications issued by the GST Council and regulatory authorities.
