Credit on service tax

10 September 2010 dear experts,
a company hsving office in pune, providing service at our plant which is in jharkhand, charging service tax...

but excise officers are saying that we will not be eligible to take credit of such service tax since that company is not having centralized registration....

My query is:
1) how many type of registration is there in service tax???
2) are we eligible for taking credit for such service tax...if yes then why or if no then why?????

10 September 2010 There are 2 type of Registration under service tax

1. Centralised registration for all the business places

2.Single registration for each business place

For claiming Input for different business places centrally need to register as one place and others can be noted as additional place of business

Make centralised registration or One more option can be register as Input service distributor as one place and you can raise invoice for transfering the Service tax to plant or HO vice versa
