12 June 2013 Can a employee claim conveyance allowance of Rs.9600 p.a. exempt if it is mentioned in salary certificate? Pls. explain how to get benefit of Conveyance allowance of Rs. 9600/- from tax exemption.

12 June 2013 Conveyance allowance or transport allowance, if it is available in your Salary structure then you can claim without produce any proofs.

12 June 2013 Conveyance allowance is exempt under section 10(14)/ Rule 2BB upto Rs. 800/- p.m. If the employer has not considerd this while computing TDS, you may file return in form ITR-1 /ITR -2 claiming the exemption to take benefit of conveyance allowance.
