An assessee has paid Vat relating to F.Y.2006-07 in April-2007, but respective provision as 'Vat payable' has not been made as on 31.03.2007. Whether such payment is allowed as per the provisions of sec.43B?

Vat Payable is Not an Expense..

What ll You Disallow?

Answer - Fisrt Of All, I Would Again This Expert Not to give answers if not sure and just for sake of points.

VAT Is Certainly an expenditure and subject to sec.43B

and secondly how come u tallied the balance sheet if all liabilities are not shown. this would tantamount to window dressing of accounts.

FBT on Medical Reimbursement

Whether FBT paid on Medical Reimbursement which was actually taxable in the hands of employees can be adjusted against future tax liability or for that matter whether the same is possible in respect of other Exp. liable for FBT.

Fringe Benefit Tax

Hello Friends, i need some clarification regarding the treatment of salary paid to Drivers who are on roll employees, as it is liable for FBT, but i have some confusion about the amount which should be considered in this regard, whether Gross, Basic or some other. Further Exp. on Uniform etc. are to considered or not. and finally won't it amount to double taxation if the co. is paying FBT and employee is also paying tax as an individual.

Dividend from mutual fund is exempted from tax, but is the profit is exempted from tax.

For eg. if we purchase a mutual fund for Rs.10,000/- and if the same is matured after 3 years for a value of Rs.20,000/-, then the Profit of Rs.10,000/- is is taxed as long term capital gains at 20% or it is exempted from tax. If it is exempted, then is there any conditions for it.
