Construction/work contract

Dear All,

As i am running business of Contractor registered with Indian Oil Corp. Ltd (public sector/govt. undertaking)or said as WORKS CONTRACT which includes activities like const. / repair of roads, ecectrical pannels/cables, tank installation, Fabrication, building etc (all the work at petrol pumps). I am paying VAT 4% which is deducted at source & 2% TDS. All the rates of IOCL is inclusive of all taxes.

Plz let me know is the service tax applicable on us & if yes how much tax is applicable on us?

The service tax is applicable from 01-06-2007 as on work contract or from 10-09-2004 ? plz advice the date.

plz let out a easy way as we have very little profits in our business.

Some of our services includes which are exempted from service tax ?

75 % abatement

Service Tax on Charitable Trust

Our Charitable Trust is registerd under Bombay Public Trust and is planning to give construction contract of Building to one contractor for Girl's Hostel. Is Contractor liable to pay Service Tax in the Construction bills raised on Trust?

Revised Return

Can we revised return of Service Tax after 90 days. If yes than Ok. If no than what we done when we found a mistake in return & what is fine/penalty to be imposed by Assessing Authority.

Tax on rent of Immovable property

Sir,
I am the owner of a building which is having some flats and a common kitchen / Canteen.

i have leased out the flats to one company for residential purpose through one contract and to the same company the Kitchen / Canteen through other contract specially to use the same by the resident of the same building and not for any other purpose.

Now Department is asking to pay the Service Tax on kitchen / Canteen part calming it is for Commercial purpose.
ie also from the year 2007.

Service Tax

A trust constructing non commercial building then it is liable to pay service tax to contractor.

If not liable than give the link of circular

Service tax provisions for hotels

Room Rent (declared tariff of Rs.1,000) - Turnover Rs.8 lacs
Room Rent (declared tariff of Rs.850) - Turnover Rs.40 lacs

Whether service tax provisions applicable? How to calculate initial exemption of Rs.10 lacs (threshold limit) - individiual as per Room Tariff or in Total?
