I sold 100 Kamath Hotels Shares @ 96 and put a Stop Loss but the Shares suddenly Jumped and went on to had a upper circuit.
And i wasnt able to buy the same
My Broker told me that i will have to pay some penalty for it
Pls tell me what will be the consequences of it now?

Is it a normal thing that happen??

i Sold shares of reliance industries and other companies after 6 months and made a profit of Rs. 40,000. I did not have any other income from any other source. Since my total income was below Rs. 1,60,000 will i have to pay tax on Rs. 40,000? A friend says that i have to pay a short term capital gain tax of 15% even if my total income is below Rs 1,60,000. What is the reason for the reduction in market value of the share of any co. after it pays the dividend to share holders??????????

Senario1: If I buy a share in march 2010 and sell it in june 2010.
Senario2: If I buy shares in April 2010 and hold it.

Request your help in calculation stcg for both senarios.
Senario 1: should i deduct the brokerage and taxes from the stcg for the share I purchase in mar 2010 (for A.Y. 2011-12)
Senario2: is the brokerage and taxes for the share i hold are deductible from stcg gained from other trades.

I wanna ask, how to do entry for purchase & sale of shares in tally if i want to do it like stock entry, or if any other way possible so that calculation of Profit/Loss can b made easily and the method should b FIFO.

please show me the calculation of NAV of mutal funds, if invested with the comibanton of common stock, preferred stock, bonds and short term bonds.

if i would invest Rs. 6,000 in commonstock, Rs. 4,000 in prferred stock, Rs. 10,000 in bonds. show me how to arrive at NAV.

If i'll search for the answer, i'll get the answer as: market value of the fund's assets on particular day minus any liabilities are divided by the no. of outstanding shares.

but am bit confused with this answer, if the fund is the combination of all the above, then how to arrive at the NAV.
