Sir,
We have some temporary employees whose salary between Rs. 5000 - 20000/- P.M. but we do not want to show them under head salary. can we show them under "Assignment Charges" and if yes whether TDS is applicable on assignment charges and what is the rate? or you can suggest me other option also.

If not under salary, they will attract 194J.. the professional fees.
Some people show it as "works contract", in suitable cases...then it falls under 194C.
(The basic contention is why the employer should feel it tedious to do TDS?

To avoid pf registration want to show less employees. my question was can we show as assignment charges. please reply.

if you don't want to show under salary then they come under u/s 194J

you can very well show as assignment charges, no issues
