Ad hoc payment made against a bill

02 June 2014 My company where i am working as an accountant, made an ad hoc payment for one of the vendor bills. Eg: The bill was for Rs. 1000 and the company paid Rs.2000 ad hoc against the bill.

I need to know whether it considered as an advance payment? and it the remaining balance will be set off against the next vendor bill?
