i am ru own proprietorship firm giving consultancy & selling softwares.i have a PAN number. what else registration numbers do i need? a vat , sales tax tin/din? how & where to apply for these?

VAT is state level tax. So pls contact to your State VAT department for registration there, or take help of some consultant. For consultancy profession, if your reciepts are more then Rs. 10 lacs in an year, then you will need a service tax registration also.

Both Registration u need.
1.Vat When your t.o goes to 5 Lacs.
2.S.T when your t.o goes to 10 Lacs.
1.Vat When your t.o goes to 5 Lacs.
2.S.T when your t.o goes to 10 Lacs.
